15th June 2010
Meeting attended by Ian Walker, Austin Carney, Terry Brown, Simon Carey and Ian Ward.
The reserve team structure was discussed and it was agreed that it would act as a support mechanism allowing players to progress into the senior team when required.
The Club is in discussion with a number of potential sponsors, details of which will be made available when agreements have been reached.
Supporters of the Club will be given an opportunity to meet the Board at an open evening (possibly week commencing 19th July 2010). Details of the new squad will be announced and the new strips will be on view (orders can be taken for replica tops). A discussion will follow to include details on the Club's position surrounding running costs, sponsorship, funding etc. and will finish with a question and answer session.
Ian Walker will represent the Club at the League AGM in Blackpool on Saturday 19th June 2010 (and the presentations later that evening) and will report back at the next meeting. (Incidentally, failure to attend this meeting incurs a £350 fine by the League).
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 6th July at 6pm. If anyone
has anything they would like discussing then please contact either the
Club (via this website) or one of the Board members.
25th May 2010
Meeting attended by Ian Walker, Austin Carney, Terry Brown, Simon Carey and Dickie Ord.
It was stated that the Club had applied to join the Durham Alliance for the forthcoming season and that Durham AFC Reserves would play in it. Austin Carney was to attend the Durham Alliance AGM after the meeting on behalf of the Club.
A trial/open training session is to be organised by Dickie and Lee for Saturday 5th June for players wishing to be considered for the team - details will appear on the website.
It was agreed that Lee's Coaches were re-appointed as the Club's travel providers for the next season.
The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 15th June at 6pm. If anyone has anything they would like discussing then please contact either the Club (via this website) or one of the Board members.
11th May 2010
At the first meeting of the close season the Chairman, Ian Walker stated that both Jamie McAloon and Kevin Hewitt had recently stood down from their positions on the Board. He expressed his thanks to them both for their combined efforts at the Club during the last season (Kevin will still be around assisting with the match reports) and he wishes Jamie well in his new role working with the UAE Police Force.
Two new members were then introduced, both having accepted invitations to join the Board. Simon Carey, currently Website Editor for the Club and who will now become further involved in sponsorship and other matters and Ian Ward who has been involved with running football clubs for a long period of time and has beneficial experience as a Durham County FA Council Member, will take up the duties of Club Secretary.
Others in attendance included Lee Collings (Manager), Terry Brown (who will carry on with matchday organisation) and Austin Carney (Director of Football).
As this was the first meeting of the new Board, matters discussed were of a general nature and centred around securing funds for next season and assembling a team that is good enough to hold it's own in whichever league the Club finds itself playing in.
Various initiatives were put forward by Ian Walker and these included functions such as the golf days and the Ramside Hall dinner dances. It is hoped that at least 4 of these functions per year can be sustained as these are of great benefit to the Club.
'Talk-ins' with ex professional footballers are also being considered and these will be held in the Clubhouse.
There was also mention of a monthly draw which supporters etc. could subscribe to which would bring in a guaranteed income on an annual basis. It is also hoped that between 10 and 20 ground advertising boards can be sold which again would provide guaranteed income for the season. On the positive side, the Club has no debts which is a satisfactory position to be in for the start of a new season.
A number of friendly matches will be arranged at home and these will include local teams including some of the 'bigger' ones as well as one against Bradford PA and possibly Whitby Town.
Lee Collings intends to have an open trials session where interested players can turn up on the day. No date has yet been fixed but it is expected to be in early to mid June.
The prospect of fielding a 'reserve' team in the Durham Alliance next season was discussed and it was felt that this would be run entirely seperately from the senior team. Ian Ward will make enquiries with the league and report back.
It was agreed that the meetings would take place every 2-3 weeks (usually on a Tuesday evening) and if anyone has anything they would like discussed then please get in touch with the Club or one of the Board members. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 25th May at 6pm.
