Questions and Answers
Decklyn Hutchinson answers a number of questions in a recent interview with Club Chairman Gary Hutchinson.

Where were you born?
Sunderland.

What Position do you play?
Centre back or central defensive midfield.

From which team did you join Durham?
Stopped playing Saturdays for a while until signed for Durham.

Who was/is the major influence on your footballing career and why?
Early part of my career growing up was influenced by my father, drove me all over the north east and supported me throughout, now I influence myself.

What is the most memorable match you have played in?
It’s got to be when I toured Spain with the school in 2011, beating the Spanish champions on their own turf! Great stadium and atmosphere!

What is your greatest regret in your football career?
I it’s not a regret as such but breaking my leg when I was young, at the time I was being scouted by a few north east clubs until the injury set me back 1 year. Double leg break in which I never really recovered from.

Who is your football hero/the player you most admire and why?
Probably Paul Scholes (might just be a ginger thing) but what a player! The way he played the game and made it look so easy, arguably one of the best central midfielders of all time? Great player!

What do you do for a living?
Fully qualified level 3 plasterer.

Why Durham City?
I think Durham as a city speaks for itself! Also as a club it is a great opportunity for me to prove I am good enough to play at this level and hopefully beyond! To get the chance to play for Durham was just too good an opportunity to turn down! I have only been at the club for 5/6 weeks and I can only say positive things about the club, the players have been great with me since I arrived as well as the managing staff and everyone involved with Durham behind the scenes, such friendly people which is great to be a part of. Obviously the playing side is not going as well as we would like but hopefully from now until the end of the season we can gather as many points as possible to keep this great club in the Northern League where it belongs! I know the staff and players are determined to get things right and I truly believe when we pick up that first win or draw, everything will fall into place nicely and everyone will be happy come the end of season!

How would you like people to think of you?
I like to think I am a well mannered, respectful young lad. On the pitch I am the totally opposite lol! I guarantee 100% work rate whether I am told to play cb, gk, st. I will play anywhere to help the team when necessary, as soon as I cross that white line the only thing I am focused on is winning for my team and leaving it all out there on the pitch!
